My Latest Stitching

The first photo is Mermaid Under the Sea on Polar Ice aida. The chart is a freebie that came with the fabric from Charles Craft. I am stitching it for my little cousin who just adores mermaids. The second photo is of my progress on Egypt Garden by Chatelaine. I didn't get much done on it but here it is anyway. I just have not been able to have a whole lot of time during Christmas this year to relax and stitch. I am getting a few days off from work so maybe I can catch up a little. ;)

Two More Ornaments!

The first one is Basset Hound from the book, Luvable Pets by the Kooler Design Studio. It looks just like one of my dogs so I had to stitch this. The second one is Tiny Toad, a freebie by The Cricket Collection. I don't know if either one were ever meant to be Christmas ornaments but I don't care. :)

Dragon Ride Progress

It's kind of hard to see but I have done some backstitching on the dragon. This my progress from the past couple of TW Mondays.

I finished this ornament last night. It is Christmas Surprise by Dragon Dreams. It was a very quick project. I haven't been posting much lately due to the fact that Christmas time is always a busy time.

Christmas is Coming!

Well, I just spent the entire morning wrapping presents! Hopefully we will get a tree soon! I can't believe it's December again. Time flies!

My Birthday Today!

I had a pretty good birthday! My family took me to Outback Steakhouse which is pretty yummy! Oh, and for the first time in a long while, I didn't have to work on my birthday!

Another New Friend

This one is a Cooper's Hawk. He's sitting there at the bird bath waiting for a bird to come down. He likes to kill and eat doves, pigeons, and small birds. I wonder what will come visit us next!

More Progress on Dragon Ride

Well, I got all the cross stitches done. All that's left is the backstitching and beads. I seriously doubt that I'll be able to finish it before the new year but that's fine with me.

Egypt Garden Progress

Well, I didn't get as much done this week that I hoped I would. With Thanksgiving and my having to work on Saturday, I wasn't able to sit and stitch for most of the week. But progress is progress right?

A New Friend!

This little guy showed up on our back porch the other night. He didn't seem at all scared of us. I'm not sure what kind of owl he is but I'll try to find out. * Edited to add that he is an Eastern Screech Owl.

TW Monday's Progress

It's so very close to a finish! I may finish up the border sometime this week just so I can be done with all the cross stitching on it and just have the backstitching left. I'm very happy with the way he is turning out!

Dragonfly Duo Progress

This is my progress on Dragonfly Duo, a Dimensions kit. This week, I've been working on whatever I felt like that day. So, basically, I just got a few stitches in here and there but I worked the most on Dragonfly Duo. I'll be working on Dragon Ride today for TW Monday and then the rest of the week I will work on Egypt Garden.

New Stash!

Yay! Some stash came in the mail today! I got two different fabrics which means I can now start two new projects! (As if I really needed that!) My two new projects are going to be Little Snap Dragon by Kustom Krafts and Cut Thru Pirate Ship by Bothy Threads. So much for trying to keep my WiP pile small!

My Progress on Dragon Ride

I'm so close to a finish on this! Of course, I saved all the backstitching for the end but I'm hoping that it won't take too long once I get to that point. I have tried to backstitch as I go (as you can see on 25th Anniversary below)but I'm just not that comfortable with it.

I'm currently fighting sinus/allergy stuff at the moment. The headaches have been pretty bad but I'm hoping once the weather figures what it wants to do, I'll be able to get better.

Halloween

My family doesn't really celebrate Halloween but there's no reason I can't wish everyone a safe and happy night! Get lots of candy and don't let the ghosts and goblins bite!

Christmas Ornament HD!

This design came from Cross Country Stitching Magazine but I don't know the month/year it came from. My Mom gets the magazine and she lets me have the charts that she doesn't want. For some reason, I tend to like ornaments that look more like spring or summer. Probably because in Texas, you never know what the weather is going to do and it will most likely be kind of warm around Christmas. Lol!

TW Monday

This is my progress from TW Monday. Instead of the gold in the border, I chose to use the pinkish purples and blueish purples from the dragon's front wing. I had my doubts in the beginning but I think it's going to be very nice in the end.
I have no new photos of my Christmas Ornaments that I'm working on for these reasons. I finished one but it's going to be a gift for someone and I don't want them seeing it yet. The second one isn't quite finished yet. I just have back stitching to go and if I will get off the computer, I can finish it up. ;) The third one will be a copy of the first because I really like how it turned out so I wouldn't be able to show that one either. So many excuses! ;)
I will be working on The Silver Lining's 25th Anniversary this week. It's a pretty design but I usually prefer more color in my stitching.

TW Monday Progress

Well, I quit working on Dragon Ride for 2 days and then worked on it again for TW Monday. I think the break was what I needed! Next Monday, when I pick it again, I should be starting on the inside of the border. This week I'll be working on Egypt Garden so I should have a nice progress pic for the weekend.

I was out in the yard picking up pecans that have fallen out of my trees and I saw this little guy just hanging around watching me. I love taking pictures of insects for some reason so I was pretty excited when he let me get pretty close to him. Isn't he beautiful?

I Surrender!

Well, I have decided to cut my TW October Sal a little short. I find myself not stitching at all just to get a break from it so that's a sign to stop. I enjoy the variety that I get from my rotation stitching so I will be going back to that. I did get a lot done on my Dragon Ride so I don't feel bad about moving on to the next project. I'm actually getting the urge to start a new project but I must resist! I have way too many started as it is!

Works in Progress

I've been working on my Dragon Ride for a month long October TW SAL. I would very much like to finish the rider and at least some of the border this month.

The granny square is my first crochet project that I started maybe a year ago. I set it aside and then forgot how to do it but after reviewing some tutorials online, I remembered how and finished off the blue that I had started. I would like to keep going on it and possibly make a lap size afghan. The next pattern I want to do is the ripple. My Great Grandmother used to make ripple afghans and I still have the one she made for me. She is a major reason why I wanted to learn to crochet in the first place.

I just couldn't resist getting a photo of this! This is her "I know I'm not supposed to be on the couch but please don't be mad, mommy" look. I ask you, how can you be angry at a face like that?

Ornament HD!

The first pic is Intermediate Whitework Ornament by Teresa Wentzler. I was scared to cut the threads but it turned out very well for my first try. The thread is Bethlehem by Weeks Dye Works.

The second pic is a close up of the fabric that I'm using to make my purse. Yes, I know, it's kind of wierd but I love it and that's all that matters. I hope to get some progress done on it this weekend maybe.

Egypt Garden WiP

This is Chatelaine's Egypt Garden. I'm hoping that the next time I work on this, I'll be able to finish the ducks and the water around them.

Now to move on to another project. I am participating in a TW SAL for the entire month of October. I will probably work on Dragon Ride for the first week but that's not definite yet.

Another Finish!

This is Egyptian Sampler designed by Teresa Wentzler stitched on Antique White Monaco. I am very happy to finish this one. Chatelaine's Egypt Garden will take it's place in the rotation slot. I can't wait to get this framed!

Egyptian Round Robin

This is my piece from an Egyptian Round Robin that I was in. I'm still trying to decide if I want to add anything to it or leave it the way it is. I am so thrilled with the way it turned out and it was tons of fun as well!

What I've been up to

I've been working on sewing a purse for myself. My old one is falling apart and I can't find one anywhere to replace it so I'm trying to make one. It's going well but I need some magnetic snaps before I go any further on it. I ordered some so now I have to wait for them to come in. The purse is still very much in pieces so a photo wouldn't look real good right now. ;)

I've also been working on several small cross stitch projects here and there. I'm trying to finish some up.

I have 2 quilts that I really need to make but I just can't get into it right now. For some reason, I'm just not that interested in them at the moment. Probably because they are for someone else and the fabric I chose isn't really my personality. One has a cowboy theme and the other has a butterfly theme. I'll just have to make myself work on them anyway.

Dragon Ride Progress

I finished the dragon on Dragon Ride (by TW ) except for the back stitching. I have the rider and the border left to do. I want to change the border colors up a little bit but I'm a little nervous. I don't want to stitch half of the border and decide that I don't like it. Lol! I've also decided to leave off the shadow stitching under the dragon since he wouldn't have a shadow on a black background.

My Treasure

I completed this little dragon last night. The design is "My Treasure" by Dragon Dreams. It was a freebie on her website. I would add a link for her site but it was shut down the last time I tried to go on it. It's stitched on "Sahara" 14 ct. Aida by http://www.enchantedfabrics.com/.

Welcome to my blog!

Well, I finally gave in and started a blog. I'll probably talk mostly about cross stitching since that is what I do most of the time.

Speaking of which, here is a progress pic of 25th Anniversary by The Silver Lining that I was working on last week. I don't know if you can tell yet but it's going to be 2 white roses. I'm planning on leaving off the 25th part and turn it into a wedding sampler for my sister. This week I am working on Dragon Ride by Teresa Wentzler. If you haven't guessed already, I am a rotation stitcher.
