"I'll Make My Own Happy Ending"

I managed to squeeze in a finish before 2008 ended! Here is "I'll Make My Own Happy Ending" by Dragon Dreams. I used some floss that I already had laying around the house instead of ordering the suggested ones on the chart. For the frog, I used DMC variations #4045 and I think I may have had to change some of the shadowing colors as well. For the wording, I used DMC #52.

Halloween Fantasy Round Robin

Here is my Magician block that I stitched on Melinda's piece for the Open Theme Round Robin. She chose a Halloween Fantasy theme.

Here is my block with Shannon's block. This is going to be pretty cute when it's finished. Now to get cracking on my other round robin.

Merry Christmas!

Have a great Christmas everyone! I chose the alligator because the weather has warmed up here and it just seemed to fit.

The Christmas Lizard

This little possum got trapped in our composting bin over night. We let him go the next morning. Our dogs wanted to chase him but they decided that he was too scary, especially when he would hiss.

So, I walk in and notice that Buddy, the Iguana, had escaped from his cage again. I looked and looked and still could not find him. I finally spotted my little man sitting in our Christmas tree! I guess he was feeling festive too! We all got a good laugh out of that one!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

It's snowing! I know, big deal right? For the Texas coast, yeah, it's a big deal! Wow!

Dragon Stitching Lottery

Here is the dragon piece I did for the dragon lottery. I made it into a doorknob hanger/ornament/fob, whatever the winner (who was Carol) wants to do with it. The design is from Dragon Dreams' Dragon Virtues and it was the joy dragon.

See? I have been working on it! With camping trips, moving furniture, the Holidays, and everything else, I'm surprised I've gotten this much done! This is my latest progress on my hardanger piece from Andrea's SAL.

Here is my new room with my bed in it. No, I didn't make the quilt. I am working on one for my bed though. Of course, I have to finish one quilt for each of my two cousins and 3 quilts for my Sis. Actually, Two of the quilts for my Sis are hers that she pieced but she wants me to do the top quilting and binding for her. I can't wait to start hanging things back up on the wall!

As promised, here are some pics of my collectibles on my new shelves. I never realized that I had so many stuffed animals!

Birthday

Ok, well, my birthday was Saturday. I had a good day, went shopping, got a cheesecake from my Sis, and I got the day off from work when I thought that I was going to be working. Yay! Today, I have food poisoning. Ugh! We had tacos and I think my jar of taco sauce was the culprit. Tomatoes are not kind when they have gone bad. I'm slowly starting to feel better.

My New Room

Here is cute little snake that has been hanging around our flower beds. It was a cool day and he came out to sun himself and warm up. A quick google search told me that this little guy is a Gulf Coast Ribbon Snake.

Here is my room that I am redecorating. Yes, it's purple! I love it! You can see the shelves that we built and hung up around the top of the walls.

It's my plan to put several little things on the shelves such as my frogs/Kermit collection, several Egyptian pieces, dragons, and other things. I may get some more pics of that when I get everything put up there.

Here's my new curtians. I'm hoping to start moving furniture back in soon!

Tis the Season!

Tis the Season to be busy, fa la la..... Ha ha. I am still working on redecorating the room. I'm making, painting, and hanging shelves around the top of the walls for collectables and such. I'll try to get a photo of it when I'm done so it will make sense. Anyway, that has been a very tedious job to say the least. I have been able to stitch for only about an hour each night so that's going slowly. Then, of course, there's next week. I'm taking my little cousins camping for a couple of days, then there's Thanksgiving, and I have to babysit all weekend. Yep, busy. So, if there are no more updates for a while, you will understand why.

Hardanger SAL Progress

Here is my progress on the Hardanger SAL designed by Andrea, http://andreaholme.blogspot.com. I know I didn't get much done but I seem to have several projects going at the same time. I am in the middle of re-painting and re-decorating my room. It's been the same for 15+ years so I finally decided it was time for a change. It's alot of work but I'm excited! Anyway, I'm going to try to get more of the hardanger done soon. I love how it's looking so far!

Puppies and Frogs!

This is Julie. She's growing so fast now! She even lost a baby tooth last week. She is getting so destructive here lately. She loves to chew and rip things up like the newspaper, pillows, stuffed animals, and even the phone book. And as you can see from the pic, she insists on sleeping on your pillow! Yes, she's my Sister's dog but until she grows out of the puppy stage, she stays with me.

Here is my latest progress on "I'll Make My Own Happy Ending" by Dragon Dreams. I don't really enjoy stitching with metallic threads that much but they sure do make a project "pop." The shoe is done in pearl metallic thread for those who are not familiar with this design. There's also going to be a gold metallic crown on the frogs head.

Halloween

Have a happy and safe Halloween out there guys! I'm hoping to have a nice quite night at home. I know, boring but, my family hasn't really done anything for Halloween since I was in 5th grade. So now as an adult, Halloween just isn't that special. Anyway, I'm currently battling allergies/sinus stuff so I wouldn't feel like partying tonight.

Pumpkin Round Robin

Here is my Square that I stitched for an Open Theme Round Robin. This Is Shannon's piece and she chose pumpkins for her theme. My pumpkin came from the 2008 Cross-Stitch Pattern-a-Day Calendar. It was designed by Elizabeth Spurlock and was the October 2 page. I made a few changes to make it work.

Here is my pumpkin with Shannon's. I love how it looks so far! I can't wait to see the finished piece at the end.

R.I.P. Daisy

Daisy, our oldest Basset Hound, died today. She was in quite a bit of pain so we finally said good-bye to her today. It's been a tough 2 years. All of our dogs were about the same age so they all started dying at the same time. We will all miss her but I'm glad her suffering has ended.

Some photos of the Wedding

Here is the Wedding Party. The Bride is Sarah, my sister and I am the one standing right next to her with no face. The lights were too bright and it looks like I'm a ghost! Haha! These aren't the professional photos so those probably turned out much better. The flower girl and ring bearer are our little cousins whom I babysit during the week day.

The Bride and Groom, Sarah and Malachi!

This is me and the Bride. I could not breathe in the dress because it had boning and it was pinned in several places. So all that made it hard to sit down in the dress. You could definitely tell in this pic that I was in discomfort. If she was uncomfortable, she hid it well! And in all the photos, you can see some of the flowers and decorations which I made all of. I was going to try to get pics of the bouquet, corsages, and boutonnieres but I ran out of time before the wedding.

Wedding Day!

Today, my sister got married! I was the Maid of Honor, florist, and decorator. I am ready to sleep for a solid week! The wedding went well as did the reception. Ok, I'm going to try to get some sleep now. :)

Little Snap Dragon Progress

For some reason, this is the only thing I have wanted to stitch on lately. It seems to be really coming along. This photo is a bit washed out.

Tadpoles

I decided to scoop up some tadpoles out of our pond so my little cousins could watch them grow. I have to admit, I have really enjoyed taking care of them.

Here's one almost all grown up! Cute huh!

Round 4 of Round Robin

I have finished round 4 of the Ladies Round Robin. This is Colleen's Earth Goddess.

Flower Power Progress

Well, I had hoped to get the top lilly finished this rotation but with hurricanes, wedding showers, dress fittings and all that, I was lucky to get this little bit done.

Hurricane Ike Aftermath

Galveston County (not the city of Galveston):
We are safe! As you can see, our yard was torn up pretty bad. However, there was no damage done to the house and we didn't have any flooding. We lost our power at about 10:00 on Friday night and got our power back on at about 8:30 Sunday morning. It was very uncomfortable but we did survive. One of our dogs started showing early signs of heat stroke at one point but we gathered up all our dogs and sat in the car with the air conditioner blowing full blast for a few hours.

Snap Dragon Progress

This is my latest progress picture of Little Snap Dragon. I love the colors in this design!

Julie

I was trying to get another photo of her to show how much of her face is starting to turn brown and her ears are getting longer. This was the best I could do! Haha! She doesn't stay still for very long at all! She is a ball of energy! She's alot of work but I will miss her when my Sis moves out and takes her with her in October.

Another Project Done!

This is "Frogs" by Hinzeit. I'm actually planning on stitching this twice so I used some frog charms from my stash for this one. The next one will have the charms from the kit.

R.I.P. Freckles

We had to take Freckles to the vet today and have him put to sleep. He was starting to be too much in pain and meds were no longer helping him. So we had to say good bye to our "little man" today. We miss him already.

Frog Song

I finally rained today. Not too much but just enough to make the frogs and toads happy. As I sit here and listen to them sing in the pond outside my window, I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes.

"Frogs do for the night what birds do for the day; they give it a voice. And the voice is a varied and stirring one that ought to be better known." -Archie Carr

Happy Dance!!

It's finally done! This is 25th Anniversary by The Silver Lining. The fabric is Silkweaver's Blue Dynasty Expressions 28 ct. Jazlyn. And yes, I did make a few changes.
